A.E. “Bean” Backus “Florida Highwaymen Mentor” Canvas Oil Painting

***PLEASE SEE OUR UPDATED POST ON THIS PAINTING HERE.***

We are so happy to bring you this beautiful A.E. “Bean” Backus Ft. Pierce, Florida landscape scene painting.  It is oil on canvas and is a beautiful example of his heavy palette knife work, circa 1930-1950.  It measures 30″ x 24″ (with frame: 35 1/2″W x 29 1/2″H) and is absolutely stunning.

The frame is unfinished wood and is very good condition for it’s age.  We see no damage to the canvas except for some minor cracking at the upper left.

Can you see the small boat & buoy to the left in the water?

The palm trees & grassy areas are exemplary examples of Mr. Backus’ palette knife handiwork.  The texture makes it appear as though the foliage is emerging from the canvas.
